Scan
There are 4 scanners in Moo2: Space Scanner (one you start
with), Tachyon Scanner, Neutron Scanner and Sensors.
Scanning values in my mod and classic are very simmilar.
Here is how the look like (scan ranges in parsec units):
Space Scanner |
2 |
|
|
|
Tachyon Scanner |
4 |
|
|
|
Neutron Scanner |
6 |
|
|
|
Sensors |
9 |
|
|
|
Additionally scanning ability have these units:
Ship with Battle Scanner |
2 |
|
|
|
Star Base |
2 |
|
|
|
Battle Station |
4 |
|
|
|
Star Fortress |
6 |
|
|
|
Depending on combination of above values, you see enemy
units a on very short distance of 2
to a super range of 15 parcecs.
Notice that ships in travel between stars are better
visible to scanners. Also larger ships like Battleship,
Titan and Doom Star can be spotted earlier than tiny
scouts. Secondly ships who station on the orbit of a star
are not in move and harder to see.
Its good to build
outposts on the edges of our Star Empire and send scounts
with Battle Scanner and Extended Fuel Tanks so they can
travel deep into the unkown space and seek for enemy forces
hidden there. |

Stealth
Original value of Stealth race pick and stealth technology
on ships is 500. In such way in
classic Moo2 ships were completly invisible to enemy. WarMoo
changed this value to 5. In
such way ships are hard to detect but no longer completly
invisible. Below table shows how stealth can be detected or
not:
Unit\Scanner |
Space |
Tachyon |
Neutron |
Sensors |
Ship with Battle Scanner |
|
1 |
3 |
6 |
Star Base |
|
1 |
3 |
6 |
Battle Station |
1 |
3 |
5 |
8 |
Star Fortress |
3 |
5 |
7 |
10 |
Above values are range in parsecs. You can see that
only a good scanners like neutron and sensors can see
stealth ships in reasonable range from 3 to 10 parcecs.
Ships equipped with a fast drive like antimatter one,
can travel this distance in 1-2 turns so a suprise
attack is still possible with stealth ability.
